TFP Model Information

What should I expect before, during, and after my TFP photo session?

The Time for Photos (TFP) shoots starts days before the actual day of the photoshoot. We will first exchange ideas and mood boards of the type of photoshoot we envision. This is a great time to provide your input of what you’re looking for as a model and what type of images are missing from your portfolio. The mood board will provide examples of the overall vision we’re after and also include outfit, makeup, hair suggestions. Hair & make-up artists may not be available and models may be required to do their own hair, make-up and styling. If you have a number of outfits you would like to use, this is the best time to inform the photographer so she can schedule the time accordingly. Most photography TFP sessions take about an hour, however if there are a number of outfits you would like to use, time can be adjusted to ensure each one is captured. After we decide on the concept and location, date, and time I’ll send you a contract to sign that outlines our agreement, copyright, usage/license of images, and so on. This agreement will have to be returned to me at the latest 24 hours before the photoshoot.

The day of the photoshoot, we will meet at a specified location, either in studio or on location. Your photoshoot may take up to two hours depending on the number of outfit changes necessary. This is the fun part where we create beautiful photos.

After the photoshoot, I’ll need a few weeks to professionally edit your photos. We will then schedule a virtual meeting to go over the 50-100 images from the photoshoot and select your favourites. I offer 5 fully edited JPGs in exchange for your time. Should you wish to purchase additional images, I offer them at discounted rates for TFP models. However, there is never an obligation to buy anything after your photoshoot.

Should you require in-depth editing beyond the regular clean-up, it is available at additional cost, however most photoshoots don’t require significant edits. Your finished digital files will be sent to you the day of or one day after our virtual meeting.

What should I wear?

Best outfits are those you feel most comfortable with, however we will go over the overall look best suited for our photo concept and I will help you decide what outfit will work best. I always encourage models to wear layers that are easily interchangeable so that you can quickly create various looks without having to change. Try your outfits a few weeks ahead and try different poses to ensure you feel comfortable and the clothing fits correctly.

What about make-up and hair?

It’s not always possible to have an HMUA at the photoshoot so I encourage models to do their own make-up. You can choose one look or if you like, start with a natural looking make-up and it bring along additional makeup so it can be built up as the photos progress.

For hair, start with your hair down and it can be put into updos as the photoshoot progresses. All of this can be decided prior to the photoshoot and specific styles organized to get the most of our photoshoot.

What information do you need from models?

When booking your TFP session, there are a few questions I’ll need you to answer:

  • What’s your availability like? I’ll need 3 different times/dates that fit your schedule. I’ll try to accomodate all requests but I can’t guarantee that and we may revert to finding another time/date that works best for both of our schedules.

  • I work primarily in downtown Vancouver, does this area work for you?

  • Are you skilled enough to do your own make-up and hair? If professional HMUA is required, we may need to delay the shoot until we can find one that’s available for selected day.

  • Are you ready to have fun and create beautiful and memorable photos? After all, that’s the goal of this whole experience :)

Can I contact you with more questions?
